Marine Toxins Cancel Razor Clam Digs

Another set of razor clam digs has been cancelled by WDFW after marine toxin tests proved prohibitive… Specifically, 5 days of digging from Nov 12 thru 16 have all been canceled…

There is still optimism that upcoming digs will proceed as planned:

Shellfish managers still hope to move forward with three days of digging (Nov. 17-19) at four Washington ocean beaches, pending the results of further testing for domoic acid. A natural toxin produced by certain types of algae, domoic acid can be harmful or even fatal if consumed in sufficient quantities.
